Loamy Beds / ( as Sandgate ) Fine and poorly graded sand (tends to be at alt ~ 80 to 95 m ) Lilac layer of Bargate Stone (tends to be at alt ~ 60 to 80 m ) Blue-Grey as at Eashing in valley Hythe Beds ( Sand underlying Bargate stone as exposed by the erosive processes of the River Wey ) Very heavily compacted so as to present a ‘hardened’ surface in some places. Fine-grained Glauconitic ( i.e. appears as grey-green .. but weathers to lighter colour ) Exposed as very steep slopes ... Buff = Alluvium . .Floodplain deposits ( River deposits as Quaternary deposits ) ... masking the underlying Solid Geology.
